| FAQs | Am I a good candidate for Sclerotherapy? Before sclerotherapy treatment, you will have an initial consultation that includes a thorough examination of your unwanted spider veins. This assessment helps us to determine if you are a good candidate for foam sclerotherapy treatment. Consultations and treatments may be performed on the same day. Is Sclerotherapy painful? During a sclerotherapy treatment session, multiple injections are necessary to perform the procedure and deliver the sclerosing agent into the veins. However, the needle used is tiny – about the same size as the needles used for Botox injections. Patients often describe the injections as feeling like mosquito bites or pinpricks. The discomfort associated with the procedure lasts only as long as the treatment takes to perform, usually 30-45 minutes! For those with lower pain tolerance, we offer self-administered Pronox laughing gas upon request. How many Sclerotherapy treatments will I need? Depending on the extent of the affected area, more than one treatment session may be necessary to achieve the desired results. The larger the vein network, or the more severe the issue, the longer it will take to fully treat. Once a vein is treated & absorbs back into the body, it’s gone for good!
